LIITR EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH LUCAS MATTHYSSE

Power-punching Argentinean Lucas Matthysse gave www.leave-it-in-the-ring.com an exclusive interview just days before his scheduled World Boxing Organization junior welterweight title eliminator against former World Boxing Council and International Boxing Federation world champion Devon Alexander (21-1-0, 13 KOs). The twelve-round battle for junior welterweight supremacy headlines a loaded HBO Boxing After Dark card this Saturday night that also features Tavoris Cloud (22-0-0, 18 KOs) defending his International Boxing Federation light heavyweight strap against Yusaf Mack (29-3-2, 17 KOs) and Cornelius Bundrage (30-4-0, 18 KOs) defending his International Boxing Federation middleweight title against Sechew Powell (26-2-0, 15 KOs).

Just one fight removed from suffering his first professional loss, Lucas Matthysse is mentally focused and prepared for anything Devon Alexander brings come fight night.
“The loss against Zab Judah (41-6-0, 28 KOs) didn’t affect me at all, in fact it probably motivated me” Matthysse explained. “The loss against Judah just delayed my chance of becoming a future world champion”.

Well aware that Devon Alexander managed to pull off a disputed unanimous decision after being thoroughly out-boxed by former World Boxing Association junior welterweight titlist Andriy Kotelnik (31-4-1, 13 KOs), Matthysse doesn’t plan on letting this fight go to the judges scorecards.

“I am definitely well aware of that, I am going to have to knock him out” Matthysse said without an ounce of doubt. “This is the moment of my life right now, this is perfect timing. I am going to be victorious because I am very well prepared.”

Lucas Matthysse is correct, his time is now. Win big and he’s back in the mix in one of boxing’s most talented and loaded divisions [140lbs]. Lose and Matthysse will most likely find himself in the same position as his older brother Walter Matthysse (26-5-0, 25 KOs), relegated to the level of an opponent rather then a contender.
